A Most Fun Wedding Show!

committed_sthed-updated_2015If you would never consider going to a wedding show (I don’t care for most of them), there is one show in Chicago that should catch your eye:  Committed 2015.  And it’s this Sunday, February 22, noon to 4:00, at Greenhouse Loft, 2545 West Diversey Ave., 2nd Floor.

Committed is Chicago’s only eco-conscious wedding event and also includes a Rumpus Room where you can try out some ideas (a popcorn bar? make your own cake topper?) and take them home with you.

Committed is the brain-child of the Green Wedding Alliance, and all the vendors showcased at the event are members of the Alliance.  This is your one-stop shop for meeting cool, fun wedding vendors who can help you green your wedding.  Buy tickets now.

Introducing Healthy Green Goods

Healthy Green Goods in Evanston is not a wedding vendor, but Marny Turvil, the owner, is someone you should know if you are interested in environmental topics.

The store on Main Street stocks a wide variety of non-toxic and environmentally safe items for the home, including linens, paint, furniture, air and water purifiers, and personal care items.  Marny is also available for in-home consultations on indoor air quality and keeping a healthy home.

If you are looking for a high-quality, environmentally friendly, non-toxic gift (for a wedding or for any occasion), Healthy Green Goods is a good place to start.  They will even ship anywhere in the US.

Vendors Wanted!

Green Music 2010

Green Music Fest 2010

I have to give a little plug here for the two street fairs that I’m the Vendor Coordinator for this summer:  Wicker Park Fest and Green Music Fest.   Both are in the Bucktown/Wicker Park area of Chicago, and both should attract good crowds this year.

Both festivals have discounts for non-profit vendors, and Green Music has discounts for certified green vendors.  Applications are being accepted right now.  If you’re interested, don’t delay, as these are popular summer festivals.  Green Music Fest is June 25 and 26, and Wicker Park is July 23 and 24.

I hope I’ll get to work with a lot of the creative, crafty types who populate this great city of ours.  Get your application in, and I’ll be in touch.

Vendors I Know: Rickshaw Rick

Do you want something a little different for your next celebration?  Try hiring a bicycle rickshaw to take you from place to place.  Having a wedding at church and the reception down the road?  You could have unusual and memorable transportation.

Rick Carter of Rickshaw Rick provides a service that is, I think, unique.  He has several styles of bicycle rickshaw and a number of drivers, so he can accommodate large or small parties.  There are covered cabs and open ones; colorful ones and wicker ones.  And they are all powered exclusively by pedal power.  Now, there’s an eco-friendly option to consider for your next party!

Season’s Gratitudes

In this season of many blessings, I would like to take note of a few things I am grateful for.

I am grateful to be able to make my living helping people and doing things that I love.

I am grateful for the other event and wedding professionals I am lucky enough to work with.  There are some terrific people in this business!

And, most of all, I am grateful for all my wonderful clients who share their special occasions with me and trust me to make sure their weddings and family parties are as wonderful as they expect them to be.

Thank you to all of you!  All the best in 2011.

It’s Not All Weddings

I know I focus a lot on the weddings I work on in this blog.  That’s because I like weddings and I do a lot of them.  But I do other things, too.  If you’re looking for party help for a bar or bat mitzvah, anniversary party, birthday party, holiday party, or any other kind of celebration, please feel free to get in touch with me.
