Science Majors’ Wedding

February 5th, 2018

I worked on the loveliest little wedding last summer.  The two people who got married are in science, with a lot of friends who are also in that field.  They are both also handicrafters.  The bride knitted the gorgeous lace shawl that she wore on her wedding day, and the groom crocheted all the flower decorations–including the bride’s bouquet!  I’ve never seen anything like it.  Take a close look at these beautiful photos from Allison Williams Photography for all the ways that science and hand crafts had a part in their very special day.

The ceremony was at Berger Park in Edgwater.  The reception was at Bistro Campagne in Lincoln Square.  Guitar music was provided by John Behling.  Truffles came from Katherine Anne Confections.  And the trolley was from 2nd City Trolley.

Lakefront Wedding Photos!

September 11th, 2017

Did I promise you more photos from recent weddings?  These are just the ones I took myself from one of my recent weddings.  Professional photos will follow when I can get them.

I must confess that I loved this wedding.  It felt so authentic.  Everything the couple did reflected their personalities and their relationship.  It was all beautiful.  It was also completely unique.

The single most unusual thing about the wedding was the amount of hand-crafting that went into it.  Both bride and groom are crafty people.  The bride knits, so she made the gorgeous shawl you will see below.  The groom crochets, so not only did he make the bride’s bouquet out of crocheted flowers; he also crocheted all the flowers for the table decorations.  Take a look for yourself!

Very Successful Wedding Show!

March 5th, 2012

Committed 2012 was last Sunday, and it was a successful and very fun afternoon.  This was the first year the of the show’s existence, so the fact that a couple hundred guests showed up was very heartening.

What everyone said was that this was much nicer than most bridal shows.  It felt more like a party than a trade show.

The Stephanie Rogers Bankd.

The Stephanie Rogers Band.

Music was provided by Cage+Aquarium (doing an all-vinyl set) and the Stephanie Rogers Band.  There was food provided by several caterers, including FIG, City Provisions, and Pure Kitchen.

Collective Resource.

Collective Resource was very successful at composting the entire event.  The ratio of compostables to garbage at the end of the event was about 75 to 1, maybe more.

And here was my set-up:
